The challenge: wear one outfit for a month. (One t-shirt; One sweatshirt; One dress shirt; One pair of pants and one pair of shorts).
The Goal: learn to live more simply and learn to free myself (even a bit) from the trap of consumerism.
Thinking at the outset: The culture is steeped in consumerism and egotism. I don’t even want to belabor the point. I attend “leadership” training events led by tanned muscularso-called-leaders wearing clean designer clothes. I am just haunted by the thought of what other Christians from other generations/cultures would think if they attended the events with me.
Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.– Proverbs 4:23
Note: this was the very first challenge that we did. It is a very powerful experience.
